What is the history of Valentine’s Day? When is Valentine’s Day?

Celebrated on the 14th of February every year, Valentine’s Day is the traditional day on which people express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery and sending greeting cards (known as 'valentines'). Valentine's Day is a great way to express love and appreciation for others, even if your romantic relationship status is "it's complicated." Love comes in many forms, and Valentine’s Day is a time to be reminded of that fact. Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated throughout the world in honour of St. Valentine, who is believed to have brought love and happiness to humanity. Throughout history, this day has been marked by special customs and rituals designed to show love and appreciation for one another. What about St Dwynwen’s Day?

We can’t forget about St Dwynwen’s Day, a very special day for many of our wonderful Welsh customers! Celebrated on the 25th of January each year, often referred to as the Welsh St Valentine’s Day, it’s a day dedicated to all things love. Dwynwen – one of King Brychan’s 24 daughters – was said to be very unlucky in love and became a nun as a result of this. Since then, she has been honoured as the Welsh patron saint of lovers.

How can my partner and I celebrate Valentine’s day?

Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love. If you know how to celebrate Valentine’s Day, you’ll know how to show your partner that he or she means the world to you. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first year together or your hundredth – you always need ways to keep the romance alive and vibrant! I’m single, can I still celebrate Valentine’s day?

Valentine's Day is a special day to celebrate love and affection. Whether you are in a relationship or not, it is still a nice day to spend with your loved ones. For those who are single, don't worry! Valentine's Day is a special day for couples to celebrate their love, but it can also be a fun day for singles! There are plenty of ways to celebrate on a budget, including going out with friends, cooking a special meal, or treating yourself to a spa day. Why not get all of your girls together and celebrate Galentine’s Day?

If spending times with loved ones isn’t really up your alley – and let’s face it, sometimes we don’t want or need much more than our cat curled up at our feet – then why not stay in? Celebrating from the sofa with a takeaway and some fluffy socks sounds just as wonderful!

How can I celebrate Valentine’s day on a budget?

You don't need to spend lots of money, just time, a touch of thought and a little bit of romance! You can be creative and find new ways to show your partner how much you care. Here are some romantic ideas for Valentine’s Day that you can consider if your piggy bank is feeling light:

Make a list: Make a list of things that both of you enjoy, and then pick your favourite. If there’s something on the list that’s not an option, don’t force it. Do what works best for both of you. This list doesn’t have to be extravagant. Perhaps you could write down your favourite films, your favourite places to visit locally, your favourite meals or tipples, and simply plan your evening this way!

Take your food outside: Everyone loves food and a picnic can be a lovely way to celebrate the holiday. Picnics are a great way to save money and spend time together. You can get outside, enjoy fresh air and sunshine while sharing a meal with the one you love. Don’t forget that it is February, though! We suggest you wrap up warm before braving the cold.

We can’t wait to help you celebrate Valentine’s Day!
