Love Kate’s has some wonderful news to share with you all...
Over the last few weeks Kate’s been talking to a lovely lady called Sarah who volunteers on behalf of a charity called Post Pals. Post Pals help people to ‘Post a Smile on a Sick Child’s Face’ by sending greeting cards, letters, and gifts to seriously ill children and their siblings in the UK. Sarah, on behalf of Post Pals, approached Love Kate’s to ask for a little discount to purchase fifty of Kate’s best-selling pop-up greeting cards. The pop-ups would be sent to the charity’s ‘Pals’ (very sick children, many of whom have a chronic illness or terminal illness). Sarah explained “I know our severely sick children would absolutely love them as they are very fun!“ Kate spent the next part of that day immediately looking over the www.postpals.co.uk website, reading the heart-warming stories of the children, or Pals, and the great work the charity does to add ‘extra smiles’ during difficult and often terribly sad times in their, and their families lives.
The work of Post Pals struck a chord with Kate who’s extremely passionate about the greetings industry and the positive benefits sending cards and gifts, brings to people. Kate’s husband, Chris, has a young Grandson with life-limiting complex needs too, so Kate also felt incredibly empathetic. It was simple, Kate wanted to donate - not sell - the cards to the cause, and this week that’s exactly what’s happening. Second Nature, who publish the award winning pop-ups, were keen to support too, donating the cards half-and-half with Kate. Pop-ups, in case you’ve not seen them, are a 3D card that literally pop up when you release them from the envelope. To delight the Pals, Kate’s hand-picked a variety of designs, including pop-up cupcakes, sunflowers, cats, shoes, sporting icons and musical instruments and they are being sent to a volunteer writer, to be posted to the children very soon. Sarah’s promised to share photos of the Pals with their pop-ups with Love Kate’s on Facebook and Twitter, so don’t miss those.
Excitingly, there’s more to tell you...
Following a flurry of emails between Sarah and Kate, Love Kate’s have offered to continue to support the work of the charity. Post Pals is a small charity run entirely by volunteers, so they rely on normal people – like you - to support them, both with donations, but mainly, to keep sending cards, letters and gifts to the children. Love Kate’s sell a huge range of greeting cards and gifts online, with free UK delivery so to help Post Pals supporters to buy cards and gifts for the Pals, Kate’s offered a discount code for supporters to use, as often as they like, and whenever they shop online at www.lovekates.co.uk. By simply adding the code POSTPALS at the Love Kate’s checkout customers will receive a 10% discount on their order. Orders can either be delivered to the customer’s address but also direct to the recipient’s address. Kate provides a free handwriting service as well so there’s even the option for a card purchased by a supporter to be written by a member of the team at Kate’s and sent direct to a Pal, saving supporters the cost of a stamp.
Saving supporters money, Kate hopes, will encourage even more card sending.
And, that’s still not all...
Following on from the pop-up card sending, and as well as all the cards, gifts and letters sent by the charity’s supporters, Post Pals would like to send their Pals cards direct from the charity, more regularly. Fun cards like the pop-ups, will be just the first of many that all the Pals will receive from the charity, and Kate has agreed to support the Post Pals in finding suitable, special greeting cards to send to the Pals again and again. Kate’s well respected in the UK card industry and is sure more card publishers will help Kate and Love Kate’s make a difference to Pals in the future.
Kate’s excited to be able to get involved and hopes to spread the word about this great charity for poorly children. You can find out more about Post Pals on their website, including all the different ways to you can get involved, meet the Pals, and read their stories. Learn too, how Fearne Cotton became Post Pal’s Patron back in 2007, and the many awards the charity has won over the years.
Kate would love as many of her own loyal customers to get involved and send cards, and if you do, feel free to share your story with us, Kate would love to hear.
